Cedar Mountain Activities Update

By the time this article gets published, we will have completed seventeen of the 23 scheduled home varsity events and all fourteen of the junior high events of the winter season.  If you add to that the many events from the fall season, you get quite a lot of activity at our Franklin and Morgan campuses.  

GFW School Board approves SOD Plan

In a special school board meeting held on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the Primary School in Gibbon, the GFW School Board approved the proposed Statutory Operating Debt (SOD) plan that is intended to get the district back on the road to financial health.

Cedar Mountain holds first annual Spelling Bee

The Cedar Mountain Junior High students held their first annual district wide spelling bee on January 15th.  Twelve students participated after passing a pre-test to determine class representatives. Students consisted of five sixth graders, three seventh graders, and four eighth graders.  Rachel Schumacher (eighth grade) placed first by correctly spelling the word “continental”. Kegan Tietz (eighth grade) took second place. Rachel will be competing at the regional competition in Redwood Falls on February 4.

In January our character education lessons will focus on anti-bullying. The latest research shows that one in three children are directly involved in bullying as a perpetrator, victim, or both.  But it doesn’t have to be this way. As parents we have the power to help reduce bullying. Here is an excerpt from Education.com’s actions you can take to help address bullying:
