The Cedar Mountain Cougars traveled to New Ulm on Tuesday, January 14 to face the Minnesota Valley Lutheran Chargers on their home court.

The Chargers have only had one loss so far this season, to the Springfield Tigers, so the Cougars knew the game would test their limits.

The Chargers pulled out in front early, carrying their lead through the first half. The Cougars were plagued by turnovers and cold shooting, and by the halftime break, they were facing a 27-35 deficit.

The second half proved to be more of the same, and the Chargers came away with the 51-74 victory.

Caden Kleinschmidt led the Cougars with a double-double of 17 points and 15 rebounds. He also had one assist and six blocks.

Devonte Charles added 11 points, six assists and five rebounds, while Trey Peterson-Juhl scored nine points and had three assists, five rebounds, one block and two steals.

Chris Dow and Dakota Pendleton each added five points to the Cougars’ total. Dow also had two rebounds, while Pendleton had to assists, two rebounds and one steal. Nick Freitag rounded out the scoring with four points and had one rebound.
