Anthony “Tony” Machtemes, age 73, of Hutchinson, MN, formerly Franklin, MN, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at his home in Hutchinson.

Private Family Services were held.

Anthony “Tony” William Machtemes was born on June 3, 1948, in Willmar, MN. He was the son of Francis and Arlene (Weiss) Machtemes. Tony was baptized as an infant, and later confirmed in his faith as a youth. He received his education in Franklin, and was a graduate of the Franklin High School Class of 1966. Tony received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Agricultural Education from the University of Minnesota.

Tony resided in Franklin, Monticello, and most recently Hutchinson, MN. He was an agricultural instructor and Future Farmers of America (FFA) advisor at Sanborn High School and then later transferred Hutchinson High School. He spent time in sales related to the agricultural industry and farmed land as well as raised livestock. He was a member of the Springfield and Hutchinson Jaycees. Tony was also a member of Renville County Pork Producers.

Tony enjoyed traveling, snow skiing, water skiing, hunting, and boating. He played high school football and continued watching all sporting events throughout his life.

Tony is survived by his sister, Kathy Nosbush and her husband, Paul of Maple Grove, MN; brothers, Mark Machtemes and his wife, Pam of Red Wing, MN, Pat Machtemes and his wife, Kathy of Glencoe, MN; nieces and nephews, Jessica Perez and her husband, Rico, Stacy Alness and her husband, Ryan, Chris Nosbush, Torry Machtemes and his wife, Jamie, Lacey Bien, Nealy Plumley and her husband, Aaron, Allison Lunde and her husband, Jordan, Abbey Johnson and her husband, Curtis, Kamryn Baggenstoss and her husband, Jason, Alex Machtemes and her wife, Emily; great-nieces and nephews, Colten Perez, Broden, Brielle, and Brecklyn Alness, Xerxes, Jocelyn, Phoenix, and Hazel Machtemes, Alissa, Alex, and Jeremiah Bien, Seager, Ronan, and Celes Plumley, Audra and Reed Lunde, and Presley Baggenstoss; many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Arlene Machtemes; and his brother, Gregory “Greg” Machtemes.
