Barry Harlan Spaude, age 73, of Paducah, KY and formerly from Gibbon, MN passed away unexpectedly on December 15, 2024 at his home in Paducah. A private family funeral service will be held at a later date.
Barry was born on March 31, 1951, the son of Harlan and Marilyn (Meder) Spaude, in New Ulm, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. He grew up on the family farm just south of Gibbon, MN.
Upon graduation from high school in 1969, Barry served his country for six years as a member of an Army Reserve unit, 452nd Gen Sup Co, in Winthrop, MN and was honorably discharged in 1975. For several years he worked, and managed, the Arlington Concrete Products redi-mix plant in Gibbon until it closed. Barry also worked at So. Central Grain & Energy in Gibbon. He drove semi for several years for a local freight hauler across the southern and western U.S. In his spare time, he helped his father Harlan and brother Kevin with the fall harvest and field work.
Barry married Carsa Stephens on March 27, 1993 and they made their home in Gibbon for many years until divorcing.
Barry’s main hobby was fishing and he enjoyed testing his skills on many different lakes over the years. He also enjoyed socializing with friends, he was quite the conversationalist and left lasting impressions on most that knew him. He also enjoyed aviation and talked about airplanes; especially WWII era airplanes.
Barry is survived by his mother, Marilyn; siblings, Robin (Karon) Spaude, Jan (Tom) Posl, Kevin (Karen) Spaude, Brad (Karen) Spaude, Jon Spaude, and Jean Cable; Carsa Spaude; as well as nine nephews and nieces along with great-nephews and great-nieces.
He was preceded in death most recently by his father Harlan; and brother-in-law, Tom Cable; as well as paternal and maternal grandparents, aunts and uncles.
