DEAN JAMES BRIESE

Dean James Briese, 91, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024 at Bluff View Memory Care in Holman.

On Saturday November 23, 2024 a celebration of life luncheon will be at D’s Pit Stop at 1039 1^st Avenue in Gibbon from 11:30 until 1:30. Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Gibbon at a later date.

A special thank you from Dean’s family to the staff of Bluff View Memory Care for providing excellent care for Dean during his time living there and through his passing.

Dean was born in 1933 to Arthur and Elsie (Speiring) Briese of Gibbon, MN. He was raised with his brother Richard (Karen) Briese on the family farm.

In 1951 Dean married Barbara (Glaesar) They raised five children together. Mike (Deb) Briese of Jordan, MN, Nina (Sherman) Briese-Benson of Gibbon, MN, Kim Briese of Gibbon, MN, James (Penny) Briese of St. Paul, MN and Melissa Briese of Chippewa Falls, WI. Dean and Barbara have been blessed with 16 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In 1982 Dean married Shirley (Schultz) of LaCrosse, WI. They had a blended family with Shirley’s children – Suzette Walz of Florida, Bambi (John) Daily, Peggy (Steve) Albitz, Sherry (Jim) Smith all of the La Crosse Area, Karen Jacobson, Rochester MN and Walter Van Roo of La Crosse Area. Dean and Shirley have 14 grand-children and 16 great-grandchildren.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Elsie (Speiring) Briese; daughter-in-law Deb (Rubendall) Briese and his son Kim Briese.

Throughout his life Dean enjoyed time with his family, going up to the hunting shack for deer season, and construction/woodworking projects.
