Lady Cougars fall to Chargers

In their second game in as many days, the Cedar Mountain Lady Cougars hosted the MVL Chargers in a Tomahawk Conference matchup on Tuesday, January 14 in Morgan.

Things started off slow for the Cougars. The continued to struggle with ball control, resulting in too many turnovers. 

The Chargers controlled the court from the tip, taking advantage of the Cougars’ missed opportunities. 

As the teams headed into the locker rooms for the halftime break, the Cougars were facing a 13-36 deficit.

The Cougars made some changes in the second half, and were able to add an additional 18 points to their total, but it wasn’t enough to eliminate the Chargers’ first-half advantage.

At the final buzzer, the Chargers earned the victory with a final score of 31-67.

Megan Sandgren led the Cougars with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. Trista Smith added nine points and had one assist and six rebounds.

Teresa Larsen scored four points and had one rebound, while Teammates Kate Lorang, Bella Harmoning and Madison Heiling each added two points. Lorang also had four rebounds, Harmoning added two, and Heiling had two assists, three rebounds and one steal.

The Lady Cougars are in action this week when they travel to Sleepy Eye on Tuesday evening to face the Knights of St. Mary’s. On Thursday evening, they are back home to take on the Falcons of Red Rock Central.
