LeRoy Black, age 82, of Fairfax, MN passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm, MN.

Private Family Funeral Service will be at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax, with interment in the church cemetery.

LeRoy Arden Black was born on November 24, 1938, in New Ulm. He was the son of Theodore and Bertha (Blaalid) Black. LeRoy was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth. He received his education at St. John Lutheran School and was a graduate of the Fairfax High School Class of 1957.

On November 5, 1960, LeRoy was united in marriage to Caroline Specht at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Wellington Township, Renville County, MN. LeRoy and Caroline were blessed with four children, Christopher, LeeAnn, Jennifer and Corey. They shared almost 61 years of marriage.

LeRoy was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax and served the church in many capacities all of his life, as well as Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School.

LeRoy was an amazing man who farmed all his life. He loved fishing, hunting, inventing, planting trees and grapevines, as well as being with family and having crab legs for Christmas. He took time to pass on all of these interest and hobbies to the people he loved.

LeRoy is survived by his wife, Caroline (Specht) Black; children, Christopher (Lori) Black, LeeAnn (Randy) Ristow, Jennifer (Bruce) Starkson, and Corey (Brenda) Black; 13 grandchildren, Shawn (Erica) Black, Amanda (Al) Frank, Kelsey (Justin) Fredrickson, Angela (Nick) Novotny, Chris Ristow, Kara (Tim) Gillard, Josh Ristow, Carley (Jarret) Klabunde, Morgan (Jake) Grunewald, Karina (Michael) Klabunde, Justin Klabunde, Nicholas and Reese Black; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bert Ahlrich, and Sharon (Roland) Gronau; brother, Larry (Helen) Black; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Bertha Black; and brother, Arden Black.
