Loaine Ellyn Friedrichs, age 97, formerly of Gibbon MN, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the Ecumen Brooks Senior Living Community in Owatonna MN, where she had been a resident since April 22, 2022.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church, rural Gibbon with Pastor Karl Grant officiating. Burial will follow in the church’s cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Loaine was born September 29, 1927, in Wellington Township, rural Fairfax, MN to parents Otto and Lydia (Fritz) Paschke. She was baptized as an infant at Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wellington Township and confirmed in her faith on April 6, 1941, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fairfax MN. On September 29, 1946, Loaine was united in marriage to Robert William Friedrichs at Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor E. G. Fritz officiating.
Robert and Loaine lived at Fairfax and Stewart MN before moving to the family farm in Moltke Township, rural Gibbon MN in 1955. Then in June of 1984 they moved to Gibbon where they built and maintained Sun Rae Apartments for 23 years.
Loaine was a long-time member of Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church and served on the Altar Guild for many years. Her hobbies included gardening, counted cross stitch, quilting with church and GFW groups, doing both crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and staining and varnishing many projects that Robert built as his hobby.
Loaine is survived by son, Randy (Kathy) of Owatonna; grandchildren, Mark (Chrissy) Friedrichs of Owatonna, Krista (Kelley) Lima of Plymouth, and Amy (Kevin) Turnbull of Brambleton, Virginia; great-grandchildren Kade and Kiley Friedrichs, Zachary and Kyle Turnbull, and Ashley and Freya Lima.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (February 25, 2001); sister, Ethel Case; brothers-in-law Wilfred Friedrichs and Wayne Case.
The family thanks Ecumen Brooks staff and Ecumen Hospice for their excellent, supportive, and compassionate care. They were truly a blessing in her final days.
