Mary Jane Illg, age 92, of Fairfax, MN passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021, at the Living Meadows at Luther in Madelia, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 16, 2021, 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax with interment in Fort Ridgely Cemetery, Ridgely Township, Nicollet County, Minnesota.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Thursday.

Honorary Casket Bearers are Kim Schroeder, Stacy Wilhm, Jessica Illg, Jenny Johnson, Travis Illg, Tyson Illg, and Cody Illg.

Casket Bearers are Chad Kiecker, Shawn Swenson, Jeremy Kiecker, Stuart Swenson, Stephen Swenson, and Caleb Illg.

Mary Jane Illg was born on July 3, 1929, in Fulda, MN. She was the daughter of Ralph and Amy (Shaver) Worden. Mary was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education in Fulda and was a graduate of the Fulda High School Class of 1948.

On August 23, 1948, Mary was united in marriage to Vernon Vincent Illg in Humboldt, SD. After their marriage, the couple resided in Des Moines Township, near Avoca, MN. She was a loving wife and mother. Mary and Vernon were blessed with four children, Barbara, Patricia “Trish”, Alan, and Michael. They shared 44 years of marriage when Vernon passed away on May 18, 1992.

Mary was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax, was president of Christian Mother’s, and a member of Ladies Aid. She was a very active member in Senior Citizens and the Senior Citizens Card Club. Mary was the former vice-president and president of the Senior Citizens Craft Club. She was also a member of the Birthday and Widows Card Clubs. She was involved with Meals on Wheels; and also served as the coordinator of the Fairfax Apartments, for many years. Mary drove people to the doctor and delivered mail to those who were sick. She played Mrs. Claus for the Fairfax Civic and Commerce for many years.

Mary enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, going to movies and plays, and having coffee with friends. At least once a month, she would go out to eat with her family or to Jackpot Junction. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

When she needed assistance with her daily care, Mary became a resident of the Fairfax Community Home and then the Living Meadows of Luther in Madelia.

Mary is survived by her children, Barbara Kiecker and her husband, Doug of Fairfax, MN, Patricia “Trish” Swenson and her husband, Dennis of Madelia, MN, Alan Illg and his wife, Lori of Avoca, MN, and Michael Illg and his wife, Mary of Glencoe, MN; grandchildren, Chad Kiecker, Kim Schroeder, Stacy Wihlm, Shawn Swenson, Travis Illg, Jeremy Kiecker, Stephen Swenson, Stuart Swenson, Tyson Illg, Jessica Illg, Cody Illg, Jennifer Johnson; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Shirley Olson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Amy Worden; husband, Vernon Illg; sisters, Violet Purington, Ruth Dierks, Adeline Iverson, Lucille Iverson, Donna Paar, Betty Paulson; brothers, Alvin, John and Freddie Worden.
