Michelle Ann Thorson

November 11, 1963-October 20, 2021

On Wednesday, October 20, 2021, Michelle Ann Thorson, passed away at the age of 57. We all loved her dearly and knew her as Miki.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – Gibbon chapel. Burial will follow in the Clear Lake Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Michelle was born on November 11, 1963 in New Ulm, MN to Eddie and Anna Lou (Peterson) Lagerwall. She attended Gibbon High School, graduating in 1982. Michelle attended Rasmussen Business College in St. Paul, MN.

She met Scott Thorson, who was visiting his Grandmother, Goldie Thorson, in the Gibbon area. Scott was visiting Clear Lake Baptist Church on a Sunday morning. She hopped on the back of his motorcycle, fell in love, and they married on March 31, 1983.

Michelle was the sweetest and kindest person that you can imagine. She was active in Clear Lake Baptist Church during her high school years as a children's Sunday school teacher and was also involved in the Pioneer Girls program. She was baptized in the Clear Lake Baptist Church.

Michelle developed a passion for photography and loved taking pictures of her cats, birds, flowers, fall leaves, sunsets, the ocean, and anything that she thought was beautiful or amazing. She posted her pictures for others to see, enjoy and interact. She loved her friends, helping people, and also spending extended time taking care of her Dad, Mom, Scott's Grandmother, and Scott's Dad, as they each went through serious illnesses. Michelle had a very open mind and really enjoyed exploring a wide range of topics. She was fun-loving and enjoyed being a little goofy, sometimes. She loved garage sales, flea markets, a good breakfast, picnics by the lake or river, and a variety of music. She traveled the US, Canada, Mexico, and especially the Caribbean, and had many adventures with Scott. Her kittens and cats were precious to her.

Michelle was beautiful, sweet, gentle, and caring. She was sometimes quiet and sometimes bubbly, and never forgot an anniversary or birthday. She was a friend to everyone and a good listener. Her loss was sudden and seems overwhelming to those who know her well. She will be greatly missed.

Michelle is survived by her husband, Scott Thorson; and brother, Mike Lagerwall, his wife, Becky Lagerwall, as well as their children.

She was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Lagerwall; her mother, Anna Lou (Peterson) Lagerwall, and her aunt Edna Zamszow.
