MILDRED ROSE VOLK

Mildred Rose Volk

January 29, 1947-September 2, 2022

Mildred “Millie” Rose Volk passed away peacefully in Denver, Colorado, with her son, Charles “Chuck,” at her bedside.

Millie was born on January 29, 1947, in New Ulm, Minnesota, to Harold and Gertrude Palmer of Fairfax, Minnesota. Millie was the youngest of seven children, including James, Audrey, John, Grace, Margery, Mary, and Millie. Millie grew up on a farm outside of Fairfax and attended St. Andrew’s grade school. Millie moved into Fairfax in 1962 with her parents when her brother, John, was married and took over the family farm. She graduated in 1965 from Fairfax High School.

Millie moved to the Twin Cities, where she met Ed, and they were married on October 9, 1970. Ed and Millie lived in Burnsville, Minnesota, and on August 18, 1971, their son, Charles, was born. Millie worked for Unisys as a computer parts technician for 30 years and retired after the company closed the location of Millie’s employment.

Millie was a long-time member of the Catholic church and taught CCD when Chuck was young. When Ed retired in 2010, Millie and Ed moved to Denver, Colorado, to be closer to Chuck, his wife, Stacy, and their grandson, Marcus, who was born in 2015.

In their retirement, Ed and Millie lived in Wheat Ridge, a suburb of Denver, where they spent time socializing with their many friends and neighbors, taking road trips, and were loving, devoted, and generous grandparents to Marcus.

Beyond her close family members, Millie was universally loved and will be missed by scores of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, too many to name here, as well as friends from Minnesota to Colorado and everywhere in between.

Millie is survived by her husband, Ed; son, Chuck (Stacy); grandson, Marcus; brother, John (Elaine); sisters, Grace and Margery (Dick); brothers-in-law, Jack (Rita), Ken, and Larry, along with many loving nieces and nephews across the country.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Gertrude; her brother, James; sisters, Audrey and Mary; brothers-in-law, Stan and Leo; sisters-in-law, Bernice and Julie, and nephews, Steven, Michael, Patrick, Doug, and David.
