Ronald Edward Berger, age 80, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully at home on September 17, 2022, with his wife by his side.

Ronald was born to the late Arthur and Elrena (Kiecker) Berger in New Ulm, Minnesota on October 2, 1941. Ronald grew up in Gibbon, Minnesota on a farm with his parents and five siblings. He went on to proudly serve his country during the Vietnam Era with the US Air Force, ranked Airman First Class for four years from 1963 to 1967. He was stationed in Thailand and was responsible for the photographic reconnaissance of the war zone. Ronald married his loving wife, Patricia (Todd) Berger on June 29, 1998, in Golden, Colorado, she survives. They spent 24 wonderful years together.

While in college Ronald studied Industrial Art. He went on to work at Honeywell creating close tolerance artwork in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was a gifted painter, sculptor, wood craftsman, and fisherman. Throughout his life he enjoyed his horses and his dogs. He had a love for music and dancing to it too. Later in life he moved to Mars, PA and became a house parent for the Presbyterian Children’s Home in Mars, PA. Eventually he moved to Ringgold, PA and began working in the coal industry. He was a subcontractor for Doverspike, Canaberry, and Rosebud Mining.

After retirement, he was able to enjoy his passion of painting and sculpting again. Some of his artwork is displayed in a doctor’s office and a library in Minnesota. As a child Ronald attended the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Later in life he attended the St. James Lutheran Church in Ringgold, PA, and then the Center Hill Community Church in Knox Dale, PA.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Patricia; two children; Roxanne (Michael) Barco of GA, and Steven (Alejandra) Berger of Denver, CO; sixteen grandchildren, Tanner Barco, Spencer Barco, Conner Barco, Hunter Barco, Carter Barco, Samuel Berger, Daniela Berger, Isabella Berger, Meagan (Albert) Marrow, Rachael Pagan, Samantha Pagan, Allyson (Larry) Bendal, Jordan Harriger, Crosby Wagner, Rhodes Wagner, and Lakisha Shaver; and one great-grandchild; Waylon Bendal.

In addition to his parents, Ronald is preceded in death by his five siblings; Leora Buerkle, Alloyus Berger, Lorna Drill, Harlan Berger, and Marion Nestande. Ronald was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Ronald’s wishes will be fulfilled privately by his family and the funeral home. His final resting place will be at his family farm in rural Fairfax, Minnesota.
