Sarah Louise (Wittenberg) Cowart passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Saint Louis, MO due to complications from a brain abscess. She was born in Arlington, MN on December 29, 1978, and grew up on a dairy farm near Gibbon, MN. There, she attended St. Peter’s Lutheran School (Moltke), Gibbon Public Schools, and Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Elementary School, as well as St. Peter’s and Augustana Lutheran Churches.

Her family moved to Manchester, MO in 1990, where she attended Hanna Woods Elementary, then Parkway South for middle school and high school. She earned her bachelor’s degree at University of Missouri-St. Louis.

She married Michael Cowart on September 22, 2006, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manchester, MO. They welcomed son, Charlie, on Nov. 25, 2013, and daughter, Vivian, on June 11, 2016.

They made their home in Manchester, MO, embracing life and many adventures together. Sarah loved photography, music, coffee, wine, home improvement projects, dogs, and travel – especially to beach locales. She held positions with Spectrum, BlackHawk, AEIS and most recently, MasterCard, but her favorite job was being a mom. Mike and Sarah loved exploring and experiencing new things together and delighted in making new friends through their kids’ activities – including baseball, music lessons, Girl Scouts and more.

Sarah is survived by her husband, Michael Cowart; children, Charlie and Vivian; and dog, Dash; parents, Peggy and Randy Wittenberg; brother, Thomas Wittenberg; mother-in-Law, Glenda Cowart; brothers-in-law Christopher and Steve (Becca) Cowart; nephew, Jordan Cowart; special friends Lisa Arguello Walter and Becky Deichmann Guz; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends.

Sarah was preceded in death by her siblings Hope, Ivy and Shelby at birth; her uncle, Lyle Wittenberg; her father-in-law, Bob Cowart; and her grandparents, Corwin and Phyllis Iverson, and Delmer and Betty Wittenberg.
