Suzanne J. Lidstrom, 76, of Mankato, passed away at Ecumen Prairie Hill in St. Peter, MN on November 30, 2025.

Suzie or “Sue” was born on New Year’s Day, 1949, in Sleepy Eye, MN, and grew up on a farm near Morgan, MN. She attended Minnesota State University in Mankato and earned her teaching degree in special education. She went on to receive her master’s degree and worked in various school districts at both the high school and college level, ending at Mankato West High School.

She was a great cook, amazing mom, and God-level gardener. Her house was a veritable jungle with literally dozens of plants flourishing inside and out. A true social butterfly, her hearty laugh rang through the many Christmas parties, Out to Lunch Bunch gatherings and impromptu get-togethers she hosted. She could chat on the phone for hours and was a prolific letter writer. Whatever the occasion, no matter how trivial, you would receive a heartfelt letter or card featuring her distinctive flowing cursive script. Loved and cherished by her family, friends, neighbors, former students and co-workers, Suzie will endure in the hearts of all.

Sue is survived by her son, Kory; her brother, Mervin “Butch” Kerkhoff; and her sisters, Kay Ward, Joy Wishnick and Wendy Kissler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mervin and Leona Kerkhoff; her brother, Scott; her sister, June Alarid and her beloved daughter, Kerry.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring. Woodland Hills Funeral Home, Mankato, MN is assisting in funeral arrangements.
