Peter Schweiss, age 77, of Fairfax, MN passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Carris Health in Redwood Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax with interment in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday, October 31, 2021, from 2-5 p.m., at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax, and will continue one hour prior to the service. Military Honors by the Fairfax Honor Guard.

Peter Joseph Schweiss was born on March 15, 1944, in New Ulm, MN. He was the son of Benedict and Margaret (Liebl) Schweiss. Peter was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax. He received his education at Fairfax High School and graduated with the class of 1962.

Peter entered active military service on May 19, 1963, and served his country in the United States Army. He was Honorably Discharged in 1966.

On January 28, 1967, Peter was united in marriage to Arvina Malecha at the Immaculate Conception Church in Lonsdale, MN. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Wellington Township, Renville County, MN. They were blessed with six sons. He plowed snow for several business in Fairfax. Peter and Arvina shared 54 years of marriage.

Peter was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax and the American Legion Post #205 in Fairfax.

Peter enjoyed being a farmer, time spent on the golf course and staying close to home. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his children, and grandchildren.

Peter is survived by his wife, Arvina Schweiss of Fairfax, MN; sons, Jeff Schweiss and his wife, Janice of Delano, MN, Greg Schweiss of Chisholm, MN, Tim Schweiss and his wife, Janel of Fairfax, MN, Joe Schweiss of Willmar, MN; grandchildren, Leo (Jenna), Kristi, Jacob, Jack, Joshua, Jared, Trevor and Jenna Schweiss; great-granddaughter, Payson; sisters, Annelda Schweiss of St. Paul, MN, Elsie Skluzacek of Lonsdale, MN, Serena (Ron) Gauceau of St. Paul, MN, Jane (John) Skluzacek of Lonsdale, MN; brother, Ken Schweiss of Welcome, MN; sisters-in-laws’, Wilma Schweiss, Mabel Schweiss and Mary Schweiss; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sharon Malecha, Arnita Novotany, Alvina (Paul) Malecha, Norlan (Kris) Malecha, Arelene (Arnie) Kabes, Donny (Mary) Malecha; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benedict and Margaret Schweiss; sons, Bradley Schweiss and Anthony Schweiss; sisters, Sister Margaret Schweiss and Beatrice Schweiss; brothers, Leo Schweiss, Robert Schweiss, Walter (Donna) Schweiss, Dennis (Roberta) Schweiss, and Howard Schweiss; brothers-in-law, Gilbert Skluzacek, Lester Malecha, and Fritz Novotany; sister-in-law, Lucille Schweiss; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Marion Malecha.
