Benjamin Joseph Tragner was born October 12, 1924 in West Newton to Jacob and Margaretha (Blumhoefer) Tragner. He attended country school, where he graduated from the 8th grade.
Ben found his passion in life at a young age when he farmed with his dad and brother. He continued to farm in any capacity throughout his life. Ben always said, “life started at 50” and it was then he married the love of his life. Ben was united in marriage to Marian Groff on October 22, 1974 at the Church of St. George in St. George. This union blessed the couple with a son and a daughter.
Ben was a very caring and selfless man, always wanting to help others. He was a devout Catholic and found God in many places in life. Ben found enjoyment in many things, but he especially loved time with his family. Ben was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Andrew’s church, in Fairfax, MN. He will be forever missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. Blessed be his memory.
Ben is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marian Tragner of Sleepy Eye, MN; his son, Steve Tragner of St. Bonifacius, MN; his daughter, Debbie (Mark) Joramo of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren, Jacob, Justine (Chris), Benjamin and Alexander; great-grandchild, Sophie; his nephew, Orville Helget; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
