Barbara G. (Trask) Huiras

Barbara G. (Trask) Huiras, age 59, of Morgan, MN passed away peacefully at her oldest daughter’s home on December 8, 2021, after a brave battle with cancer.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the Northwood Church in Redwood Falls, MN with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Barb was born on January 30, 1962, to Richard and Ruth (Fagner) Trask in upstate New York. During her childhood her family moved around in New York, then to Oklahoma City, and finally settled back in upstate New York where she finished out her high school, graduating from Midlakes High School in 1980. Barb spent the next few years adoring her nephews and nieces before having Samantha in 1986.

Barb moved to Kansas with Samantha in 1989 and kickstarting a 35-year career in the Dental Care field. She started out as a dental assistant and then the last few years as the front desk specialist at the Dental Health Clinic.

In 1990, Barb met Craig Huiras while he was working locally in Kansas. Barb and Craig went on to be married for 16 years and during that time had two children, Lucas and Madeline (Maddie) while living in Morgan.

In April 2021, Barb was diagnosed with lung cancer and immediately started treatment. She always stated if the doctors were not going to give up neither was she. During this time, she continued to spend every minute with her grandbabies, reading her books on the back deck soaking up the sun, traveling to see family and friends, cooking/baking and enjoying every moment with her family. She was thoughtful and kind always calling to check on you and yours. We were grateful and blessed to know of her love and love her back. Barb’s life would seem too short to all of us, but those of us who were Blessed to be touched by her faith and understand that her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts exceed the quantity of time that she stayed here.

Barb is survived by her children, Samantha (Wayne) Thoreson and their three children Wayne III, Sophia, and Benjamin; Lucas (Tawnee) Huiras and their two children Letty and Holdyn; and Maddie (Mike) Huiras and their child Gabriela; siblings, Bonnie-NY, Beth (Gary) Symonds-NY, Bob (June) Trask-KS, Patty McCain-KS; ex-husband, Craig-Morgan; nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jody; nephew, Rusty; brother-in-law, Mark McCain Sr., and close family friend’s daughter, Nicky.
