ALLAN PERCY HANSEN

Allan Percy Hansen, 86, of Spencer, IA passed away on November 28, 2024.

  Allan was born on March 11, 1938 in Redwood Falls, MN and graduated from Morgan High School, Morgan, MN. For many years he farmed and raised livestock on the family farm near Gilfillan, MN. During this time, he married Shirley Hilbert.

Later in life Allan drove thousands of miles across the nation for Southwest Tours in Marshall, MN. Eventually he called Spencer, IA his new home when he met and married Ruth Van Berkum in 1995. Allan worked hard…as a farmer, husband, father, grandfather, golfer and as a good person. If there was a need for something to be fixed, he could fix it. If something had to be built, he could build it.

  Allan was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Gilfillan and Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. He enjoyed the fairways and his golfing buddies as a member of the Spencer Municipal Golf Course.

  Allan is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Todd (Lori) Hansen; daughter, Trisha (Chad) Severson; grandchildren, Tessa (Nick) Engler, Hannah (Jordan) Christianson, Chloe Hansen, and Cayden Hansen; great-grandson, Emmett Engler; sister, Arliss Becker; nieces, Nancy Becker, Laurie (Ken) Dittbenner, and Sarah (Daryl) Seifert. Also surviving are Ruth’s children, Dan Van Berkum, Paul Van Berkum, Beth (Dan) Van Hove, and Dawn (Ivan) Crane as well as seven step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Emily Hansen; brothers-in-law, Perry Becker, Dan Larson and Daryl Hilbert; Ruth’s daughter-in-law, Kris Van Berkum; and his beloved dogs on the farm Husky and Kirby.

Allan will miss his special friend Holly Jensen and his second family at the Warner Dialysis Center.
