As of Monday, December 7, 2020, the State of Minnesota Department of Health is reporting a cumulative total of 356,152 positive cases of coronavirus across the state. Along with those cases, they also report a cumulative total of 4,005 deaths that have been attributed to the virus.
Closer to home, our local counties are also reporting an increase in cases as well.

The Morgan City Council held their regular meeting on Wednesday, December 2. The evening began with the Truth in Taxation hearing, and then flowed into the regular council meeting.

On Tuesday, December 1, during their second emergency school board meeting in as many weeks, the GFW School Board reviewed the COVID-19 numbers once more, and this time decided to make a change to the District’s learning model.

At Thanksgiving, it’s natural to think about the things we are thankful for. This year, however, we have something extra special to be thankful for. Living in our small communities, we might not have all the amenities close by or all the activities available to us that the bigger cities have, but what we do have is far more important.

Several businesses in Morgan and Franklin pooled their resources over the Thanksgiving holiday to make sure everyone had a good Thanksgiving meal. In Morgan, the Broken Spoke Saloon, F&M bank, WeCare, Kerkhoff Plumbing & Heating, Becker's Super Valu and Henry's Foods joined forces to distribute a free meal to anyone in need. The meal there was donated in honor of Mike & Joe Larsen, who were both devoted to serving their community.

The bridge along Nicollet County Road 21 near the entrance to Fort Ridgely State Park south of Fairfax was completed recently. The detour has been removed and the road has been reopened. (Submitted photo)
