Following a special meeting of their Board of Directors on Monday, September 21, the Minnesota State High School League voted to allow the football and volleyball seasons to commence yet this fall.

This time of the year in Minnesota is absolutely beautiful. There are vibrant fall colors everywhere you look. From the trees in the river bottom to pumpkins and mums on the front porch, Minnesota puts on her finest attire this time of the year.
But as we all know, they won’t last long so don’t miss your chance to get out and see them!

It has been a few weeks since we provided you with the current COVID-19 numbers according to the Minnesota Department of Health. With school and sports underway, and larger gatherings being held, the numbers have increased recently, even in our local counties.

September 22 marked the first day of Autumn, but evidence of the changing seasons can been seen all around us. This field of soybeans located near Fairfax still shows a hint of green, but it has definitely turned the corner and the leaves will soon be falling off the stalks. Trees are also sporting their fall colors and while this week’s weather is forecasted to be in the 70- to 80-degree range, the nights are getting cooler. Fall is definitely here. How many of us carry a face mask with us all the time? It’s not a habit yet but putting on a mask or carrying one with me is becoming part of my morning routine. I also have one in each vehicle and several in my office. I don’t always wear it when I am in public, but I am getting better at it. Recently, I had a medical appointment, and there, everyone wears one all the time. If you lower your mask or take it off, you are asked to put it on covering your nose and mouth.

For most people, the idea of doing taxes is a frustrating and arduous task, definitely not something they look forward to. For Amy Acree, owner of AG Tax in Fairfax, however, it’s a different story.
Amy grew up near Sleepy Eye with her parents and four siblings. She moved to New Ulm when she got married, and raised her two sons, Matt and Mark.
