After teaching drivers' education for 44 years, Pat Schreiner is ready to hand over the keys to his successor. This has been in the works for the past year or so.
“I have asked a number of people about taking over the program as I wanted to slowly phase out,” Schreiner said. “I was hoping to find someone to continue the program for GFW Schools. Having a local program is more convenient for the students and their parents.”

After six years in service to the New Ulm Diocese and the All Saints Parish in Fairfax, Franklin, Gibbon and Winthrop, Father Bruno will be returning to India.
Father Bruno was initially called to serve here for four years, but actually served six, including 10 months at Cathedral in New Ulm.

The Boards of Directors at Farmward Cooperative and New Vision Co-op announced a letter of intent to form a unification study committee on June 15, 2023.
The study will seek to determine whether a unification would create benefits for the member-owners and workforce of each organization moving forward. It will seek to answer questions including:
How do we take care of employees today and in the future?

The Fairfax City Council met for their regular meeting on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.
After the Pledge of Allegiance was recited and the agenda was approved, the Consent Agenda was approved and a Public Hearing was opened to discuss the variance request for 123 1st Avenue Southwest. No comments were received so the hearing was closed and the variance for the proposed garage was approved.

The regular Cedar Mountain School Board meeting was held June 20, 2023 in Morgan. The Board began by recognizing over $3,500 in donations.
Elementary School Principal, Tabatha Miller, reported that summer school and recreation for the kids are going well and the summer building projects are underway. Staff is working hard to make sure the building and academic programs are ready to go for next year.

The GFW School Board met for their June meeting on Tuesday, June 20 at 6:30 pm.
After the agenda was approved the Board heard from Amy Bastian who presented the Q-Comp End- of-the-Year report.
Q-Comp is a voluntary ‘quality compensation’ program that encourages teachers and staff to achieve certain goals throughout the school year to earn additional compensation.

Rob Brandl had some big shoes to fill when he became Superintendent at Cedar Mountain Schools. Bob Tews had been in that role for decades, and did a good job of setting the school up for success.
Brandl was hired to be the Middle/High School Principal at Cedar Mountain in July of 2016. In 2019, when Tews retired, he moved into the Superintendent position.
