The Cedar Mountain Cougars went head-to-head against the MVL Chargers on Friday evening, February 19, in Morgan for the second time this season.
In the first meeting of these teams, exactly one month ago, the Chargers came away with the win. This time, the Cougars were determined to shift the balance.

Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop High School graduate Halley Busse was honored with a 1,000 point commemorative game ball before Friday evening’s home women’s basketball game vs. Southwest Minnesota State. Busse, a 5-5 point guard, became the 22nd player in school history to hit the 1,000 point mark by scoring nine points at Minnesota State on January 17th. The GFW T-Bird boys hosted the Mustangs of BLHS on Thursday evening in Winthrop for a Tomahawk Conference matchup.
GFW got off to a quick start, kicking things off with two baskets and a free throw by Johnnie Ambrose, and a pair of free throws by Damian Hopp, to give them a 7-0 lead in the first couple minutes of the game.

The Mayville State University men's basketball team defeated the Waldorf Warriors by a final score of 79-45 on Saturday, February 13. The Comets move to 13-4 overall and 10-3 in the conference and earned the title of the NSAA Regular Season Champions. With one game remaining against the Presentation Saints on Thursday February 18 the Comets hold a two-game lead for first place in the NSAA standings.

The Cedar Mountain Cougar boys hosted the Knights of Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Thursday, February 11 in Morgan.
Early on, the scored stayed pretty close, but as the first half drew to a close, the Knights built themselves a decent lead, and the Cougars headed into the halftime break facing a 25-37 deficit.

The GFW varsity boys traveled to New Ulm on Tuesday, February 2 to take on the Greyhounds of New Ulm Cathedral.
The game was a back-and-forth battle from the start. The Hounds built themselves an early lead, but the T-Birds came flying back to close the gap and build a lead of their own.

The Cedar Mountain Cougars traveled to Wabasso on Monday, February 8 for a conference battle against the Wabasso Rabbits.
It was a back-and-forth battle through most of the first half, with the score staying relatively close. But as the first half came to a close, the Cougars were facing a 40-46 deficit.

The GFW boys’ varsity basketball team headed to Arlington on Saturday, February 6 for a non-conference game against the Sibley East Wolverines.
It didn’t take long for the T-Birds to set the tone of the game. They jumped out in front early, taking advantage of turnovers and pulling down rebounds. Within the first two minutes, GFW had a four-point lead with a score of 7-2.
