Cleophus “Cleo” Grosam, age 87, of Fairfax, MN, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, 11 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax with interment in the church cemetery.
Cleophus “Cleo” Rose Grosam was born on October 29, 1938, in Buffalo Lake, MN. She was the daughter of Joseph and Lucille (Groebner) Zollner. Cleo was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in the Catholic faith. She received her education in Fairfax and graduated from Fairfax High School with the class of 1956.
On September 5, 1956, Cleo was united in marriage to Benedict “Ben” Grosam in Fairfax. They were blessed with five children, Leonard, Pat, Lori, Karen, and George. The couple lived on the farm where they raised their children. At one time they farmed the land, milked cows, had laying hens, farrowed and finished pigs and raised steers. Cleo and Benedict shared 65 years of marriage until Ben passed away in January, 2022.
Cleo enjoyed baking for the holidays and was famous for making her rosettes. She also enjoyed gardening and especially loved roses.
She was an active member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and was a member of the church choir.

Cleo is survived by her daughters, Pat Winberg and her husband Mark, Lori Francis and her husband, Mike, Karen Capra-Kidney and her husband, Bob; son, George Grosam and his wife Amy; grandchildren, Michael Winberg, Jessica Winberg, Samantha Capra, Nicholas Capra, Justin Grosam, Matthew Grosam, Matthew Hillesheim and Mark Hillesheim; sisters-in-law, Janet Plotz and Rose Zollner; nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lucille Zollner; son, Leonard Grosam; husband, Benedict Grosam; sister, Bernice (Dan) Dietz; brothers, Albin (Marion) Zollner, Fred (Betty) Zollner, Glen Zollner, and Eldor Zollner.
