Gregory "Greg" Waibel, age 70, of Ramsey, MN passed away Friday, February 21, 2020, at his daughter's home in Montrose, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, 2 p.m. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax with interment in the church cemetery. Military Honors by the Fairfax Honor Guard. Father Bruno Santiago officiated.

Honorary Casket Bearers were grandchildren, Drew and Abby Proehl.

Casket Bearers were nephews, Ross Nachreiner, Beau Nachreiner, Don Waibel, Graham Waibel, Nick Hoffmann, and Scott VanDeest.

Gregory "Greg" Allen Waibel was born on April 22, 1949, in New Ulm, MN. He was the son of Donald and Helen (Fahey) Waibel. Greg was baptized as an infant at St. Andrew's Catholic Church and was later confirmed in his faith in Germany. He received his education in Trenton, IL, and was a graduate of Wesclin High School. He furthered his education by attending college.

On December 28, 1967, Greg entered active military duty and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He achieved the rank of E-4. Greg received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Combat Action Ribbon, Rifle Marksman Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. He was Honorably Discharged on July 14, 1969.

He resided in Chaska, MN, Fort Scott, KS, St. Louis, MO, Indianapolis, IN, and Ramsey, MN.

On August 4, 1978, Greg was united in marriage to Karen Klukas in Marshall, MN. Greg was employed as a customer service representative for an insurance company. They were blessed with one daughter, Heidi. Greg and Karen shared 41 years of marriage.

Greg loved spending time with his Band of Brothers (Marine Corps friends), listening to Rock 'n' Roll Music, and liked Marilyn Monroe. He enjoyed crosswords, and watching old western movies. Greg spent a lot of time with his dog, Victor. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Greg is survived by his wife, Karen Waibel of Ramsey;

daughter, Heidi Proehl and her husband Eric of Montrose; grandchildren, Drew and Abby Proehl; sister, Debbie Nachreiner of Fairfax; brother, Ron Waibel and his wife Lora of Fairfax; in-laws, Charles Klukas and his wife Rita of Russell, MN, Rachel Shaw and her husband Bruce of Golden Valley, MN, Allan Klukas and his wife Judy of Russell, MN, and Jayne Klukas of Golden Valley, MN; sister-in-law, Judy Walania of Eagle Lake, MN; brother-in-law, Tom Nachreiner of Fairfax; Service Dog, Victor; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Helen Waibel; brother, Don Waibel; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Nancy Klukas; aunts and uncles.
