LeRoy Grunke, age 93, of Fairfax, MN passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, December 2, 2020, 11:00 a.m.. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed.

LeRoy Alfred Grunke was born on March 30, 1927, in Bandon Township, Renville County, MN. He was the son of Alfred and Irene (Dallman) Grunke. LeRoy was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on March 17, 1940, both at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax. He received his education at St. John Lutheran School in Fairfax.

On June 16, 1949, LeRoy was united in marriage to Evelyn Kern at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Bandon Township, Renville County. LeRoy and Evelyn were blessed with six children. When they retired from farming, they moved into Fairfax. They shared 71 years of marriage.

LeRoy was a lifelong member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax and he and Evelyn were the custodians for many years.

LeRoy enjoyed wood working, and gardening. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

When he needed assistance with his daily care, LeRoy became a resident of the Fairfax Community Home.

LeRoy is survived by his: wife, Evelyn Grunke of Fairfax, MN; children, Linda Hilgert and her husband, Larry of Bird Island, MN, Brenda Severson and her husband, Jan of St. Paul, MN, Cindy Mumme and her husband, Dave of Redwood Falls, MN, Deb Rooney and her husband, Roger of Cottage Grove, MN, and Jeff Grunke of St. Cloud, MN; Randy’s special friend, Cathy Malvin of Danube, MN; grandchildren, Jim of Bird Island, MN, Dan and his fiancé, Kelsey of Glencoe, MN, Justin and his wife, Ashley of Maplewood, MN, Allison of St. Paul, MN, Matthew and his wife, Briana of Franklin, MN, Jason and his fiancé, Bobbie of Minneapolis, MN, Erin of Cedar Rapids, IA, Michala and her husband, Tony of Belle Plaine, MN, Mandi and her husband, Al of Morton, MN, Keith and his wife, Mondi of Morgan, MN, Mallory and her husband, Jordon of Redwood Falls, MN; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Anna, Megan, Elliana, Arlo, Cassidy, Robert, Franklin, Kora, Emily, Kyson, Jessie, Kyler, Gabe, Hazel, Milli, Easton, Landon, Jayce, Jensen, Hadley; sisters-in-law, Ordella Freyholtz of Tripoli, IA, and Luella Kern of Richfield, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Irene Grunke; sisters, Ioda Anderson and Darlene Grunke; brother, Lester at birth; son, Randy Grunke and his wife, Judy.
