Melva Jane Peterson passed away on February 18, 2020 at Maplewood Care Center in Maplewood, MN. She was 77 years old.

A gathering of immediate family for a graveside service will be held at the Clear Lake Baptist Cemetery in the spring of 2020.

Melva was born June 6, 1942 in New Ulm to parents, Melvin and Myrtle Peterson of Gibbon, MN. One of four children, she attended school in Gibbon and went on to become a Registered Nurse at Mounds-Midway School of Nursing in St. Paul. She spent the next 30 years caring for patients in Pediatric Intensive Care at St. Paul Children's, Region's Hospital Burn Unit and the United Hospital Coronary ICU unit.

She was raised and baptized at Clear Lake Baptist Church, attended Wood Dale Baptist Church in Minneapolis and had a strong faith. She was kind and generous, and whenever possible, enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephew who she adored.

Melva is survived by her brother, Lowell Peterson of Winthrop and sister, Phyllis (Jerome)Taylor of Pine River; nieces, Michelle (Scott) Thorson of Cannon Falls, Lisa (Sean) Kaneski of Pequot Lakes, Katherine (Phillip) Martin of Pequot Lakes, Marnie (Christopher)Huntley of Minneapolis; nephew, Michel (Rebecca) Lagerwall of rural Gibbon; 12 great-nieces and nephews.

Melva was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Anna Louise Lagerwall.
