The VFW Auxiliary recognized two girls from Prairie Lutheran School on May 11, 2022 for their participation in a program called, “Get Excited for the Red, White and Blue!” which entails singing the Star-Spangled Banner in a competition with an option to sing it in any genre they choose. Imani Prigge (pictured above right) and Molly Johnson (center) were recognized for their contributions by Auxiliary President Michelle Trapp (left). Imani was chosen to continue to the District level where the competition had a possibility of six contestants.

The ranks of the GFW Athletic Boosters Hall of Fame will grow by two on June 1 when the group hosts its 2022 induction ceremony.
This year’s inductees include former coaches who have spent countless hours working with GFW athletes to improve and encouraging them to reach beyond what they thought was possible.

The Franklin City Council met for their regular meeting on on Monday, May 9, 2022
J. Lund requested Council’s permission to license three dogs, stating that he has an elderly dog with health and leg issues and the quality of life it has seemed to get better when they added a puppy to the family. Council approved the request.

It seems that spring is finally here. However, Mother Nature has expressed that she is still very much present and accounted for. Storms swept through the area last week dumping several inches of rain across southern and central Minnesota, causing rivers and streams to overflow their banks, flooding fields, yards, and roads. (Top left) Wabasha Creek near Franklin. (Top center) The fields on the west side of Co. Rd. 11. (Top Right) The Boat landing along Highway 4 south of Fairfax is completely under water, as is the parking area.

The May Fairfax City Council meeting was scheduled for May 10, but because the majority of the Council was out in the fields there was not a quorum, so the meeting was rescheduled.

The Morgan City Council held their regular meeting on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.
The first business item was the quotes for seal-coating bids. Several bids were received. The lowest bid was from Aztec Paving. MR Paving submitted the second-lowest bid. Other bids were received but were substantially higher.
