The Morgan City Council met for their March meeting on Wednesday, March 8 at 7:00 pm.
Following the initial housekeeping items, like approval of the agenda and last month’s minutes, the Council moved on to hear from Scott Welter regarding the sale of the old mower.

The Gibbon City Council held their monthly meeting March 6, 2023.
After an adjustment was received to the trade in value of the payloader, the Council moved to trade in the old payloader for $30,000 since it is a fair price and removes the hassle of handling bids.

Lions KidSight USA is a nation-wide program bringing Lions clubs across the country together to ensure our children receive eye screenings and follow-up care when needed. Through modern technology we can detect vision problems early on and assist families in getting their children eye care. The Gibbon Lions offer assistance to families in making sure their child can be screened by an optometrist and receive glasses if needed.

The Morgan Community Players presented their annual community play this past weekend. The 16-member cast and their crew held three performances of “Murder’s in the Heir’ for the public, all of which were well attended! The audience laughed and was even able to participate in the show!

The GFW School District is hosting several informational meetings in the coming weeks to provide information on the proposed facilities project and the upcoming special election that is scheduled to occur on April 11. The meeting will also offer participants to explore different areas of educational environments to discuss what they would like to see in a truly community-centered school. Those meetings are scheduled as follows:

Before too long, Fairfax residents and visitors will have a new restaurant option in town.
According to owner Tom MacFarlane, the new restaurant will open later this spring in the recently vacated building that was Black Cherry Smokehouse, and prior to that, Mac’s Smokehouse, right along Highway 19.

City Public Works crews spent hours last week cleaning up after yet another snowstorm. In Morgan, the drifts were nearly as high as the roofline at Gil-Mor (pictured above), and the pile of snow down Vernon Avenue (below left) made parking tricky. In Fairfax (bottom right), the snow drifts blocked driveways and sidewalks and the piles made it difficult to see at street corners. (Staff photos by Lori Kopischke)
