There’s no doubt that fall in Minnesota is one of the most beautiful times of the year. And fall in the Minnesota River Valley can be breathtaking if you take the time to stop and enjoy it. The Morgan City Council met for their monthly meeting on October 5, 2022. The meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Denny Kerkhoff.
After approval of the agenda and last month’s minutes, the group heard from Dwane Jemmings, who presented the Minnesota Department of Health’s report. The report indicated that the City passed their inspection, knowing that a new water treatment plant is in the works.

Patriotism is something that doesn’t happen by accident, but it’s so important to the health of our country.
Our local Veteran’s organizations, the Legion, the VFW and the Auxiliaries are great sources for encouraging and fostering patriotism throughout the community.

Fall harvest is underway in our coverage area. Combines have been running now for a week or more. Some farmers are working in soybeans, but a few corn fields have also been harvested. Please keep an eye out for equipment moving on the roads and stay safe! (Staff photos by Lori Kopischke)

If you’ve been on Highway 19 between Gibbon and Fairfax at just about any point this summer, you’ve likely noticed some activity there that’s out of the ordinary.
There have been crews working long hours, at least six days a week, sometimes seven, to make improvements to the railroad.
