GFW girls compete at Sibley East

The GFW girls track team competed at Sibley East on Friday, April 30. The GFW girls finished with 19 points.

Olivia Schwarzrock got personal records in both the discus and shot put, winning both events. She threw 112’ 5” in the discus and 35’ 6” in the shot put.

Lady T-Birds fall to Indians

The GFW varsity softball team hosted the Sleepy Eye Indians in a double-header on Thursday, April 29 in Winthrop.

The first game was quiet for both teams until the fourth inning when the Indians scored one run. 

The T-Birds had several hits throughout the first couple innings but weren’t able to bring anybody home. 

GFW golf teams head to Oakdale for Conference Meet

The first of three Tomahawk Conference golf meets was held at Oakdale Golf Club on Wednesday, April 21.

The GFW golf boys’ team finished the meet in seventh place with a team score of 405.

Individually, Logan Martin led the team with a score of 86, while Trevor Schweiss added a 102, Nate TenEyck carded a 108 and Chris Berger shot a 109.

Cedar Mountain golfers participate in first Conference Meet of the season

The Cedar Mountain golf teams headed for Oakdale Golf Club on Wednesday, April 21 for the first of three Conference meets.

The weather was about as inhospitable as it could get, with 40-degree temps and winds coming out of the northwest at 15 to 20 miles an hour.

T-Bird boys fall to MVL, Springfield

The GFW boys’ varsity baseball team hosted the MVL Chargers for the second time this season on Tuesday, April 20 in Fairfax.

The T-Birds had a few runners get on base, but the Chargers shut them down before they were able to score. 

GFW Competes at Sibley East

The GFW boys’ track team competed at Sibley East on Friday, April 23. The team finished the day with 41 points.

Sibley East won the meet with 172.5 points, followed by MVL with 97.5 points. Norwood-Young America took third with 55 points, and GSL was fourth with 43 points.

Busy week for the T-Bird girls

The GFW girls’ varsity softball team had a busy week last week. 

They started things off on Tuesday with a double-header at Minnesota Valley Lutheran in New Ulm. 

In the first game, the T-Birds were the first to score in the second inning when Morgan Aylsworth walked on and then made her way around the infield on a bunt by Jessica Willegal.

T-Bird Tracksters compete at Hutchinson

The GFW track teams headed to Hutchinson on Thursday, April 15 for their first non-scrimmage meet of the season.

The girls team scored 41.5 points in the meet to take fourth place behind Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted (50.5 points), Hutchinson (63.5 points) and St. Peter (97.5 points).

Cedar Mountain golfers head to Sanborn

The Cedar Mountain golf team opened their season with a meet in Sanborn on Monday, April 16. 

The boys’ team tallied a team score of 204 which put them in second place behind Sleepy Eye United. 

GFW golf teams kick off season

The GFW golf teams started their season off with two meets last week.

They hosted Sleepy Eye United at the Winthrop Golf Course for the first meet of the season on Monday, April 12.

In that meet, the GFW boys’ varsity team carded a total score of 223.
