The Cedar Mountain Cougars hosted the GFW Thunderbirds in a Tomahawk Conference matchup on Thursday, January 26 in Morgan.
The Cougars controlled much of the first half, pulling ahead and securing a decent lead. They held that lead as they headed into the halftime break with a score of 40-27.

The Cedar Mountain Cougar boys’ varsity basketball team traveled to Springfield on Tuesday, January 24 for a very close Tomahawk Conference matchup.
The teams traded baskets and the lead throughout the first half, but the Tigers carried a one-point advantage into the halftime break with a score of 32-33.

The GFW boys headed for Sleepy Eye on Tuesday, January 17 to take on the Knights of St. Mary’s on their home court in a Tomahawk Conference battle.
The T-Birds took an early lead right out of the gate. Their shots were falling and they were doing a good job of keeping the ball secure. They controlled the game through much of the first half, leading by as many as 11 at one point.

The GFW boys’ varsity basketball team traveled to Sleepy Eye on Saturday, January 21 for a game against the Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey Wolverines. The game was part of a showcase between teams from the Tomahawk and Red Rock Conferences.

The GFW girls’ basketball teams headed to Nicollet on Thursday, January 19 to take on the Raiders in a non-conference matchup.
The T-Birds were looking to earn another win following their victory over Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s earlier in the week, and their determination carried over into this contest.

GFW’s boys’ basketball teams headed to the eastern end of Sibley County on Monday, January 16 for a non-conference battle with the Giants of LeSueur-Henderson.
The game started with the teams trading baskets and the lead for the first few minutes. Then, about halfway through the first half, the T-Birds broke away and went on a run that set the tone for the rest of the game.

The Cedar Mountain Cougars headed for Marshall on Saturday, January 28 to take on the Lakeview Lakers in a non-conference matchup.
These two teams had faced off earlier in the season at the holiday tournament, and the Lakers came away with the win that time. The Cougars were hoping for a different result this time around.

The Cedar Mountain Lady Cougars headed to Redwood on Monday, January 23 to take on the Cardinals of Redwood Valley.
The Cougars kept the score close throughout the first half. They did a good job of sinking their free throws, and worked hard to pull down the defensive rebounds, taking away the Cardinals’ second- and third-chance shots.

The GFW T-Bird boys’ basketball teams played host to the Rabbits of Wabasso on Friday, January 20 in Winthrop.
The T-Birds started things off, putting the first points on the board. The Rabbits answered and the teams traded baskets and the lead over the next several minutes.
