T-Bird boys get zapped by Chargers

The GFW boys’ basketball teams hosted the Chargers of MVL on Thursday, February 2 in Winthrop.

The game was a back-and-forth battle early on, with the teams trading baskets throughout the first several minutes of play. 

Cougars can’t get past Jaguars

The Cedar Mountain Cougars faced the Jaguars of Truman/ Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain on Friday, February 24.

The Cougars hit the floor looking for another win after defeating BLHS earlier in the week, but the Jaguars had other ideas. 

Cougars roll past Rabbits

The Cedar Mountain Cougars wrapped up their week last week with a home game against the Wabasso Rabbits on Saturday, February 25.

This was the second meeting of these two teams this season, and in the first meeting, the Rabbits took the win.  This time, the Cougars were determined to come out on top.

Lady Cougars earn a first-round playoff victory

The Cedar Mountain girls’ varsity basketball team hosted the Renville County West Jaguars in the first round of the Section 2A playoffs on Friday, February 24 in Morgan.

The teams were well-matched, and the score stayed close throughout the first half. The Cougars kept their heads and worked hard, shooting well and doing a good job of rebounding, preventing second-chance shots for the Jaguars.

The Cedar Mountain Cougar boys’ varsity basketball team hosted the Chargers of MVL on Thursday, February 17 in Morgan.

This was the second time these two teams faced off this season, and the Cougars were hoping for a different outcome this time, but it wasn’t meant to be.

T-Birds struggle against Indians

The GFW boys’ varsity basketball teams traveled to Sleepy Eye on Tuesday, January 24 to face the Indians of Sleepy Eye Public on their home court.

The T-Birds kicked things off quickly, putting the first points on the board.

Cougars pull of close game over Hounds

The Cedar Mountain Cougars traveled to New Ulm on Friday, February 10 to take on the New Ulm Cathedral Greyhounds on their home court. 

The game was a back-and-forth battle from the tip. The teams traded shots and worked to gain the upper hand.

At the halftime break, the Cougars held a tenuous one-point lead, with a score of 18-17.

T-Bird girls zap Chargers

The GFW girls’ basketball teams hosted the Chargers of MVL in a Tomahawk Conference matchup on Thursday, January 26 in Winthrop.

The Chargers put the first points on the board, but the T-Birds answered quickly and soon had a 5-2 lead.

Midway through the first half, the T-Birds put together an 8-0 run that took the score to 13-4. 

Lady T-Birds fly past Cougars

The Cedar Mountain Lady Cougars hosted the GFW Thunderbirds on Monday, February 13 in Morgan in a Tomahawk Conference matchup.

The Cougars struggled with turnovers and had issues with cold shooting right from the start. 

The T-Birds had built themselves a 38-22 lead as the teams headed into the halftime break.

The Cougars controlled the tip, but the T-Birds put the first points on the board.
