T-Bird girls fall to Wolverines in season opener

The GFW varsity volleyball team opened their season with a match against the Sibley East Wolverines in Arlington on Tuesday, August 31.

Despite their efforts, the T-Birds weren’t able to come away with the win. The Wolverines took the match in three sets, with scores of 16-25, 19-25 and 12-25.

Julia Schweiss led the team with 14 kills, two set assists, three digs, and five blocks. Brynn Busse added three kills, 14 set assists, eight digs, and one block.

GFW Cross Country teams compete at Mankato Loyola

The GFW Cross Country teams headed to Mankato on Thursday, September 2 for a meet at Mankato Loyola Good Council.

The girls’ varsity team had a great day, finishing in third place in the seven-team field with a total if 88 points.

Mady Steele led the T-Birds with a fourth-place finish in 21:53.8.

Cougars bound past Raiders for season opening win!

The Cedar Mountain Cougar volleyball teams opened their season with a match against the Nicollet Raiders on Monday, August 30.

The Cougars came away with a hard-fought win in five sets, with scores of 25-18, 18-25, 25-20, 20-25 and 15-11.

Cougars down Blackhawks

The Cedar Mountain Cougar volleyball team hosted the Madelia Blackhawks on Thursday, September 2.

The girls played well and earned their second win of the season, taking the match in three sets, with scores of 25-9, 28-26, and 25-11.

T-Birds roll past Crusaders

The GFW Varsity football team opened their season with a game against the Mayer Lutheran Crusaders on Friday, September 2 in Winthrop.

The Crusaders received the ball to start the game and they made the most of their first possession, scoring the first touchdown within the first two minutes of the game.

They held onto their 7-0 lead for the rest of the first quarter.

Cougars open season with a win

The Cedar Mountain varsity football team traveled to Nicollet for their first contest of the season against the Nicollet Raiders on Thursday, September 2.

The Raiders put the first points on the board with a 37-yard pass for a touchdown midway through the first quarter. Their two-point conversion failed, leaving the score at 0-6.
