GFW boys win Tomahawk Conference, girls take third

The GFW boys track team finished the Conference Meet in Sleepy Eye on Tuesday, May 25 with seven first place finishes and tied for the conference title with MVL/NUC with 83 points.

The GFW boys track team competed at Arlington on Friday, May 21 and won the meet with 85 points. 

Garret Schmidt had a great day winning the long jump with a jump of 17’ 3”, he placed second in the 300IH’s with a time of 46.42, and third in the 110HH’s with a time of 18.24.

Fairfax Cardinals start season with two wins

The Fairfax Cardinals played their first game on May 2 at Memorial Park in Fairfax against Lake Crystal and came away with a 10-1 victory.  The game started as a pitchers’ duel, until the fifth inning with both teams scoreless after four.  Austin Black pitched well for the first four innings, then was relieved by Tom Lokensgard who gave up one run, but got the win on the mound.

The third of three Tomahawk Conference Golf meets was held on May 10.

The boys’ teams headed to Sanborn for their day, while the girls’ teams played in Sleepy Eye.

Cedar Mountain golfers do well in Conference Tournament

The Cedar Mountain girls’ golf team took second in their third of three Tomahawk Conference golf tournaments last week. 

The girls traveled to Sleepy Eye on Monday, May 10 for their tournament.

As a team, the girls carded a total score of 484, putting them in second place behind MVL.

GFW Golf teams host Tigers and Mustangs

The GFW Golf teams hosted the MVL Chargers in a home meet on May 4 at the Winthrop Golf Course.

For the boys, Logan Martin brought home the medal with a score of 37. Nate TenEyck added a 51 and Cole Jacobson carded a 57. Trevor Schweiss scored a 60 and Coltan Howe added an 80 to give the team a score of 205.

GFW does well at Redwood Valley

The GFW boys track team competed at Redwood Falls on Tuesday, May 4 and placed third with 79.5 points.

The 4x200-meter relay team ran well, earning the win with a time of 1:44.16. Jack Panitzke did a great job of anchoring this race and beating a Montevideo runner in the final leg of this relay in a very close race. Members of that team are: Jack Panitzke, VaVa Ambrose, Lorenzo Capatano, and Justin Messner.

GFW Tracksters compete at Sleepy Eye

The GFW boys track team competed at Sleepy Eye on Monday, April 10. They finished the meet in fourth place with 123 points. 

Treay Taylor won the 100-meter dash with a time 11.54, while Dominic Henrichs placed third with a time of 12.20. Henrichs also placed second in the 200-meter dash in 25.19.
