Cedar Mountain athletes named to Conference All Academic teams

Despite the fact that there was no spring sports season, the Tomahawk Conference felt it was important to recognize the athletes that earned a spot on the Conference All Academic Teams.

Cedar Mountain athletes that were recognized include:

Golf: Shaylee Schiller and Taylor Dahmes;

Track: Megan Sandgren.

GFW athletes earn spring sports All Academic honors

Golf: Ana Caldwell, Stephanie Mashuga, and Jacob Schaefer;

Tighe, Kleinschmidt lead Mayville to third consecutive conference title

The Mayville State University Comets won their third straight North Star Athletic Association Conference Tournament on Sunday. 

Post-season play saw the number two seeded Comets beat the number seven seed Dakota State 74-59 inside the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse at Mayville State. 

The Comets headed down to Watertown, SD for the NSAA Final Four. 

Cedar Mountain girls’ basketball season wrap up

The Cedar Mountain girls’ basketball season came to an end with a second-round playoff loss to Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Monday, February 24.

The Lady Cougars finished their season with an overall record of 2-21 and a conference record of 1-14.

The GFW girls’ varsity basketball team ended their season with a loss to LeSueur-Henderson in the first round of the section playoffs on Thursday, February 20.

The girls finished their season with an overall record of 6-18 and a conference record of 6-10.

GFW girls drop final regular season game to Tigers

The GFW girls’ varsity basketball team traveled to Belle Plaine on Tuesday, February 18 for their final regular season game against the Tigers.

The Tigers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, while the T-Bird struggled with turnovers and cold shooting throughout the game. 

By the end of the first half, the girls were facing a 26-43 deficit.

T-Birds fall to Hounds in second round of playoffs

The GFW T-Bird boys traveled to New Ulm on Saturday, February 29 to face the Cathedral Greyhounds in the second round of the section tournament.

Coming off a big win over Sleepy Eye, the T-Birds hit the floor ready to work for the win, but the Hounds had other ideas.

T-Birds advance with win over Indians

The GFW T-Birds hosted the Sleepy Eye Indians on Thursday, February 27 in the first round of Section 2A playoffs.

The tipoff went to the Indians to start the game, but the T-Birds were the first to put points on the board with a shot by Damian Hopp for two.

Cougars fall to Crusaders

The Cedar Mountain boys’ basketball season came to an end on Saturday, February 29 with a 44-78 loss to the Mayer Lutheran Crusaders.

The Cougars worked to keep the game within reach, but they struggled with ball control and good passing. The Crusaders quickly built a daunting lead. By the end of the first half, the Cougars were facing a 27-point deficit, with a score of 19-46.

Lady Cougars fall to Knights

The Cedar Mountain girls’ varsity basketball team traveled to Sleepy Eye on Monday, February 24 for a Section 2A matchup against the St. Mary’s Knights.

Despite their efforts, the Cougars weren’t able to keep pace with the Knights, and by the end of the first half, they were facing a 13-34 deficit.
