Homecoming week at Cedar Mountain is the week of September 18 – 22. The 2023 Homecoming Candidates for Cedar Mountain are (front row) Kenadi Heiling, Colette Mathiowetz, Hailey Hollar, Kenley Schiller, (back row) Kegan Tietz, Branndon Pendleton, Cooper Freitag and Ryan Kevelin. The variety show and coronation are scheduled for Wednesday, September 20 at 7 pm. The volleyball team will host MVL on Thursday, September 21 and the football team hosts New Ulm Cathedral on Friday, September 22 at 7 pm.

The GFW School Board held a special meeting on August 28 in Gibbon.
The meeting began with the interviews of the individuals who applied to fill the vacant spots on the board. Those individuals included Mark Turtle, Mason Schmidt, Bernie Sauter and Kathi Gruenhagen from Gibbon, and Dustin Berger and George Grosam from Fairfax.

The GFW School Board met for their regular meeting on August 21, 2023 at the Gibbon site.
Following the approval of the agenda, the group moved on to the School and Community Recognition. Mike Kuehn, a long-time member of the GFW School Board recently passed. Superintendent Dr. Jeff Horton recognized Kuehn’s dedication to the district and invited everyone to remember his work.

It is a busy time at the elementary school! Staff have been attending workshops, prepping their classrooms, and planning lessons. The building is shiny thanks to the hard work of the facility maintenance staff, and we are all looking forward to starting the 2023-2024 school year.

There is an incredible energy in our schools right now as we prepare for the 2023-24 school year! We are welcoming teachers back to the buildings and seeing some new faces joining our team from near and far. Staff will be participating in fantastic professional development opportunities as we prepare to launch new curriculum options in English Language Arts, science, and continue our transition to structured literacy through LETRS training.

The Cedar Mountain School Board met for their regular meeting on Monday, August 21. It was a busy meeting with the advent of the 2023-24 school year to begin on Tuesday, September 5. A new school year is also bringing to Cedar Mountain new leadership Superintendent Kimberly DeWitte and Principal Misty Riebel both being new to their roles.
