T-Birds defeat Tigers to go 4-0

The GFW Varsity volleyball team extended their winning streak to 4-0 with a game against the Springfield Tigers on Tuesday, October 13.

In the first two sets, the T-Birds handled things easily, shutting the Tigers down with scores of 25-14 and 25-17.

Lady Cougars bound past Indians for the win

The Cedar Mountain varsity volleyball team went head-to-head with the Sleepy Eye Indians on Tuesday, October 13 in a Tomahawk Conference matchup.

The Cougars brought their A game and earned their first victory of the season, sweeping the match in three sets with scores of 25-19, 26-24, and 25-19.

GFW runners compete at Section Meet

The GFW Cross Country Teams headed for Montgomery on Tuesday, October 13 for their final race of the season. 

The Girls’ team placed third in the Section 2A meet. The boys’ team finished the day in 19th place.

Cedar Mountain gets first win against BL-H-S

On Thursday, October 15th, the Cedar Mountain Cougar football team traveled to Hector to take on the Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart Mustangs in their second game of the year. The Cougars were looking for their first victory of the 2020 season, after falling to Westbrook-Walnut Grove in a close week one game. Cedar Mountain erupted offensively and held the lead all night, cruising to a 40-14 victory.

The Cedar Mountain Cougar volleyball team went head to head with the Mustangs of BLHS on Thursday, October 15.

It turned out to be a long evening for both teams, with the match going five sets.

The first set was very close, but the Cougars came away with the win with a final score of 25-23.

Lady T-Birds down Chargers

The GFW varsity volleyball team defeated the MVL Chargers in four sets on Monday, October 12 in Winthrop.

The Chargers took the first set with a score of 21-25, but the T-Birds bounced back in the second, earning the victory with a score of 25-19.

The third set also went to the T-Birds, after a hard-fought battle, with a final score of 25-22. 

T-Bird Gridders suffer loss to NRHEG

The GFW Thunderbird varsity football team hosted the Panthers of New Richland- Hartland-Ellendale- Geneva on Thursday, October 15 in Winthrop.

The Panthers found the end zone first to put points on the board midway through the first quarter to take a 6-0 lead.

Cougars fall to Chargers after tough battle

The Cedar Mountain Cougar football team hit the field for the first time this season on Friday, October 9 when they hosted the chargers of Westbrook-Walnut Grove.

The Chargers were first to put points on the board with a touchdown and two-point conversion shortly before the end of the first quarter.

Lady T-Birds defeat Rabbits in season opener

The GFW volleyball team traveled to Wabasso on Thursday, October 8 for their season opener against the Rabbits.

The T-Birds took the match in three sets, with scores of 25-21, 25-21, and 25-23 to earn the win.
